This course is designed for healthcare professionals who must have a credential (a card) documenting successful completion of a course in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and Basic Life Support (BLS). Such credentials are typically required for people who provide healthcare to patients in a wide variety of settings.
Course participants will learn how to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies such as cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, and foreign-body airway obstruction (choking).
Through discussion and practice, students learn a wide variety of topics, including:
Chain of Survival - critical actions required to treat life-threatening emergencies
Warning signs of heart attack
Risk factors for heart disease and stroke
Warning signs of stroke
CPR and relief of foreign body airway obstruction(choking) in adults, children, and events.
Usage of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
Certification / Provider Courses: Classes are held from 12:30pm-4:45pm in the WCH Auditorium An additional evening class will be held on August 4 from 5pm-8:45pm. Fee for this course is $55.
Renewal Courses:
Test out sessions are held from 8:30am to 11:30am.
Fee for this course is $45 (includes access key and test out). A copy of a current Healthcare Provider card must be provided at registration.
