  After Surgery
The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit is where specially trained nurses will care for you as you awaken from the anesthetic. Frequent blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory checks will be done. Nurses will encourage you to take deep breaths and to cough, if permitted, and to move your legs. When recovery criteria are met, you will return to your hospital room. Every effort will be made to make your stay in the PACU as comfortable as possible.

In your room, your family/support person can rejoin you. The nurses will be checking your blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature from time to time. Dressings, drains, or anything special to your surgery will be monitored. Your activity and diet, as ordered by your doctor, will begin.

Before you leave the hospital, a nurse will review your discharge instructions with you. Again, please feel free to any questions you may have.

Following discharge from Wooster Community Hospital, contact your doctor for any problems or concerns.

Who Is at Risk?

Sometimes when you want it the least, your body needs it the most.  When you feel tired, worn out and stressed out, the last thing you feel like doing is driving down to your health club for an intense workout.  The fact is, this is exactly what you should do. 1
